The design concept is a straightforward expression of the intent of the museum. When people look at the edifice, they will immediately understand what it stands for: freedom from the bondage of oppression.
The corten steel building envelope is accentuated with laser-cut barbed-wire patterns. This is a grim reminder of the human rights violations during the Martial Law period.
These constricting elements, however, are terminated by two ribbons of yellow and lighy blue flowing upwards. This represent the freedom from abuse and oppression. The ribbons are inspired by the colors of Human Rights.
